How to find Langley Castle Hotel

There are multiple ways to reach the castle, each offering scenic views of the Northumberland countryside as you approach our historic English Castle.

By Car

From the East (Newcastle – approx. 30 miles):
Take the A69 westbound from Newcastle. After about 30 miles, turn left onto the A686, following signs for Langley Castle Hotel. The castle is 2 miles along this road on the right, just after a sharp left bend.

From the West (Carlisle – approx. 40 miles):
Take the A69 eastbound to Haydon Bridge, then turn right onto the A686 signposted Langley Castle Hotel. Continue for 2 miles. The castle is on the right, just after a sharp left bend.

From the South-West (M6 Motorway):

Option 1 (Scenic Route):
Exit the M6 at Junction 40 (Penrith). Take the A686 through Alston and Haydon Bridge. After passing the Carts Bog Inn, the castle is 2 miles ahead on your left. Please note: this is a scenic drive with sharp bends.

Option 2 (Faster Route):
Exit the M6 at Junction 43, follow the A69 to Haydon Bridge, then turn right onto the A686 (signposted Langley Castle Hotel).

By Train

  • The nearest train stations are Hexham and Haydon Bridge.
  • Both are served by regular trains from
  • Newcastle and Carlisle.
  • Taxis are available from both stations.
  • Newcastle is around 3 hours from London by train.

By Air

Newcastle International Airport is just a 30-minute drive from the castle.

Flights from Gatwick and Heathrow take just over an hour.
